Guidelines/FAQ For Music performers for Nov 9 and 10th. 

• • Do I need to be a SIFAA member to register ? 
    • Yes, Only Active SIFAA members can register for collaboration , thematic or individual slots
    • For music schools, only the teachers who are members can register.  Entry is free for SIFAA members,students who are  non members will pay a fee of $30 per participant. School teacher or coordinator is responsible for paying the amount for non members before the deadline provided by the SIFAA team
    • Please login to Sifaa.org and identify your membership status and if inactive, please extend membership or become a member 
  • Who can fill the google form ? 
    • All local music teachers, musicians who are 23 years or older and meet the membership criteria mentioned above,   are welcome to register
  • If I’m under 23 but have performed arangetram or have performed in prior kutcheries for more than an hour , can I still apply ? 
    • If you are an advanced student below age 23 and if you have completed arangetram, you can register. 
  • I was one of the SIFAA competition winners from this year (2024) . Should I apply ? 
    • SIFAA competition winners  from  Senior and Advanced categories from 2024  (per SIFAA Completion RULES from 2024) need not register, the SIFAA team will reach out to you to schedule your slots either for upcoming SIFAA community events.  
  • How will the SIFAA MRTP committee allocate slots ? 
    • We follow the following order to make decisions on allocating slots and also try to accommodate any logistics around stage set up or other needs .
      • Collaboration Events 
        • Two or More musicians, who are SIFAA Members,  collaborate to present a concert . This does not include accompanists.
        • Example – Violin Duet, Veena/Venu , 2 Veena, Sitar and Veena , 2 Singers with Veena/Venu are a few collaborations we have encouraged in the past. 
        • SIFAA will pair up with accompaniments (Violin and Mridangam)  .
        • The slot includes fair time allocated for mridangam and fellow accompanists as well.
        • One Registration will suffice for this , even if there are multiple SIFAA members collaborating . Please enter one of the names as primary and enter the other names and email IDs of all collaborators in the registration form in the comments section. 

• • • • Individual Thematic Presentation Concerts  
        • Individuals (who are members) can pick a thematic presentation of their choice and share with SIFAA while registering.
        • SIFAA will pair up with accompaniments (Violin and Mridangam)

        • SIFAA will pair up with accompaniments (Violin and Mridangam)

• • Who will be my accompanists ? Should I find them on my own ? 
    • SIFAA will be allocating mridangam and violin accompanists 
  • What is MRTP Forum ?
    • Margazhi in RTP is a forum to encourage gurus and musicians in the area to perform so we strongly encourage you to apply . 
    • MRTP Music event  is a full day event for 2 full days  and Dance event is a 12 hour event for one full day . So it is extremely difficult to accommodate specific time slots so we request participants and accompanists to be flexible and make yourself available for the duration of the weekend to allow this festival to be well organized, well attended as well.
    • And yes, SIFAA reserves the right to make the final decision on the time slots and performance time. 
    • As we will try our best to accommodate all the registrations, SIFAA reserves the right to choose on a first come, first served basis.
    • Participants canceling a confirmed spot on short notice will forfeit their ability to register for upcoming year (unless it is really unavoidable)
    • SIFAA will reserve the right to deny future slots for registrants who do not follow the guidelines listed.
• Is there a COST to register and perform ? 
  • • Entry fee is free for SIFAA members
    • Participants have to be members. 
    • Only for music school performance, non members are allowed to register for a $30 donation 
• We register and what next ? 
  • • SIFAA will review registrations and the membership details of the registrants, and work towards time slots and communicate at the earliest with a request to furnish membership details (for schools) by a certain date 
    • Upon receiving the communication , each registrant ( or representative of the registration if it is a group/school/collaboration) has to share membership details to the board by the stipulated time to keep the slot .
